These lessons are about you and your personal aspirations in music. Break into playing music for the first time or bust past that professional plateau. I will help you set realistic short-term goals that aim at whatever long-term goals you already have (of being a rock star, fluent improviser, early childhood song-leader, praise-band leader, rock star, songwriter, garage/basement/bedroom music troll . . . rock star).
I teach beginners, professionals, and everyone in between. I hold a masters in music education, and have taught most styles of music, including (but never limited!) classic rock, new rock, pop rock, rockabilly, blues, jazz, folk, country, bluegrass, Klezmer, solo acoustic, classical, and the Beatles (who get their own genre).
I've taught flat-pickers to fingerpick, fingerpickers to flat-pick, nose-pickers to, well, wash their hands before they play guitar. Whatever your goals as a music hobbyist, amateur, or professional, I can help you meet them. Contact Spencer
Personalized sheet music.
To truly personalize your lessons, I supply most of the sheet music you will need. I am an accomplished transcriptionist—many bands and students have used my charts and arrangements (see examples!) for performance and study. I supply beautiful, computer-generated notation, tablature, rhythm charts, chord diagrams—everything you need to take home our lesson material and practice. I can also arrange songs for your skill-level—a level of personalization not available in published materials.
In addition to material I generate just for you, I have a catalog of published materials that we will reference when they are suitable for your education. If we decide a book is particularly well-suited to your interests, I will ask you to purchase it so you have your own copy at home.
